This video features “The Most Interesting Man in the World.” This video wants you to think that if you drink this brand of beer you will be cooler, more ripped, sexier, and smarter.
This video shows some guys doing epically cool activities, such as creating a giant bonfire and visiting the club with bangin’ chicks. This video says that drinking this brand of alcohol will make you awesome and sexy.
Does alcohol actually cause any of these events to happen? Of course not. When you drink, you are still you, only dumber.
These videos make drinking alcohol look fun and exciting. Marketers try to make drinking seem cool so that you will buy more alcohol. That’s how marketing works. Ads don’t care about giving you a sweet life, but they will do anything to make a sale.
The real results of drinking are not as cool as the ads want us to think. Let’s look at what can actually happen when you drink:
Drinking alcohol can hurt your future: Since alcohol use is illegal for teens, getting caught can put you in serious trouble. Even if you are of age, drinking is still risky. Drinking may result in crime, fights, and drunk driving. If you get addicted to drinking, you may find it hard to get a job or keep a relationship.
Drinking alcohol can hurt your health: Drinking alcohol regularly, especially binge drinking, can cause severe problems. You may gain weight, increase your risk for heart disease, or get high blood pressure. Alcohol poisoning may land you in the emergency room. The risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease is higher while drunk because you may forget to practice safe sex. Unsafe sex can also lead to pregnancy.
Drinking alcohol can look stupid: When drinking, you tend to say and do anything that comes into your head. Usually, these ideas are really dumb, like trying to ride a life-size ceramic horse or riding a bike off of a roof. Binge drinking will also cause you to throw up or have horrible hangovers.
The best way to avoid these risks is to avoid drinking altogether. If you must drink, drink in small amounts to stay safe. Know your drinking limits and do not pass them. If you do choose to drink, keep safe by:
Having one or two people remain sober to prevent unsafe activities
Placing keys in a safe location to prevent drunk driving
Keeping emergency contact information in your phone and wallet at all times
Remember that alcohol marketing is jus there to sell products and shows an unrealistic picture of drinking. Don’t allow alcohol marketing to ruin your life. Act responsibly and take control of your future.

This is one of the many reasons why I don’t like my teenagers watching too much TV. The alcohol commercials are all over prime time television, which is when we do most of our family TV-watching. I was relieved when a coworker at Dish recently suggested that I upgrade to the Hopper. This Whole Home DVR has a little of everything! We like that it automatically records prime time TV with the Prime Time Anytime feature, when we play our favorite shows back we can completely block out all commercials with the push of 1 button. This helps weed out unnecessary commercials.
I am sick of seeing ads for drink on youtube videos for a start if you drink you will have no computer or phone to watch youtube on because you will sell it for drink. Secondly even if you have either you will not be able to pay your phone bill and get cut off. Another thing is that since Google uses interest based ads they should have an option to block alcohol advertising being displayed and it’s very easy for them to do.
