Even if you don’t like exercise you can still get plenty of physical activity. Physical activity is basically like getting fitness without knowing you’re getting fitness. Any time you are moving you are burning calories and exercising various muscles in your body. You don’t actually have to have a set fitness routine to lose weight and get fit, just follow the tips below to add more physical activity to your daily life and you will be sneaking in fitness without even knowing it!
Leave The Car At Home
If you live within a mile of any of the places you hang out at or visit often, start walking to them, instead of driving. Walking is a great source of fitness and when you throw in a goal, like going to the bank to deposit your paycheck, it becomes a goal of something other than exercise. So, you are getting exercise without actually planning for exercise. Obviously, if you need to go to the store and plan to have a bunch of stuff to bring back home with you, like a couple cases of beer, you will want to drive. But if you are just going up for a loaf of bread you can walk, or jog.
Add 2000 Steps
There are many ways to add 2,000 more steps into your day. The more you walk, the more calories you shed, and the more fit your body will become. Now that you are walking places, you will already be getting additional steps into each day. But, even when you’re driving you can take steps to add more steps. Instead of parking right by the door of your destination, park in the farthest parking spot away from the door, on the other side of the parking lot. Takes the stairs, instead of the elevator.
Walk The Dog Or Play With The Kids
You can have fun and get fitness while you are at it. If you have kids, or young siblings, spend some time playing with them. Any games that get you up and moving can be beneficial and good for both you and the children. Play basketball, tag or race each other around the yard. If you have a dog, or a neighbor with a dog, you can use them to help enhance the fitness in your daily life too. Dog’s need exercise too. Take them for a walk, or jog. Play fetch with them, which is a great workout for your arms and your abs.
Think Of Your Job As A Gym
Whether you work in a cubicle, or you sell shoes, your job can give you fitness. If you are on your feet at work and walking around, you are getting in extra steps and giving your legs a good workout. Throw in some simple squats every once in a while and you’re legs will get less tired and sore at work, and stronger. If you are stuck at a desk you can do some sitting push-ups by placing your hands on the desk, while sitting in your chair, and leaning in and out, like you do in push-ups. Tighten your ab muscles for some resistance and double the effects of this simple fitness step.
Fitness can be fun, and it can be done without even knowing you’re doing it. Physical activity equals fitness. So just get up and get moving!
