Are you the type that likes to nibble on a bag of chips while watching the Housewives of whatever city, and dang it you ate the whole bag? Lets get you away from the Doritos and moving in the right direction when it comes to chips.
Chips are great, and okay to have. You don’t have to eat a rice cake that taste like air. There is no reason that you can’t have a chip that is full of flavor and has the right ingredients that are actually good for you.
Instead of eating plain old tortilla chips you should try the Trader Joes Spicy Soy and Flaxseed Tortilla Chips. The spice gives it a great kick that has you wanting more and it’s an excellent source of fiber and protein. In a single serving you will get 6g of protein and 4g of fiber. Who knew you could get all that in a chip? Yes, these are addicting so serving size is important. Instead of eating out of the bag make sure you pour your portion in a small bowl. And hey, it’s okay to have more than one serving but be realistic and try to keep it down to two servings.
If you like more of the conventional potato chips then try the Trader Joes Popped Potato chips. They have less than half the fat of a regular potato chip but keep the great taste. There’s also a BBQ flavored bag that everyone loves to rave about. When you try these chips you will notice how light and crispy they are, you’ll even be surprised when you turn the bag around and realize 120 calories per serving!
If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you try your local grocery store for a flax-seed option. If your local convenience store doesn’t have any options, ASK!! It can’t hurt to ask and bring their attention to the fact that people want healthy munchies! I also love all of the new baked chip options and pop chips too… the thing to always keep in mind is MODERATION. Even HEALTHY chips can pack on the pounds if you eat too many.
Let your reality show’s be your guilty pleasure while your healthy potato chips can be just pure pleasure.
If chips aren’t your thing but you crave a crunchy, salty snack try roasted almonds, 100 calorie packs of CheezIts or low-fat string cheese! You can also dip veggies in ranch or munch on Snap Pea Crisps for the same effect.

Trader Joes Spicy Soy and Flaxseed Tortilla Chips..I wouldn’t recommend these at all..even as an alt to potato chips..The soy is probably genetically modified..and our bodies don’t digest flax seed, only flax oil. Garden of Eaten has some great non-gmo blue corn chips, and there is a brand of black bean chips that whole foods carries that are good as well.
